  2. Alternatively, turn off all gas and electrical appliances and extinguish all pilot lights, naked flames and lit cigarettes.
  3. Open all windows and doors to ventilate the property and then leave the premises until our plumbers arrive.
  4. Do not light your gas stove, hot water system, matches or use any device, switch or appliance that could produce a spark, including mobile phones.
  5. If the gas smell is coming from a gas appliance, hot water system or from a pipe connection in your property or between the property and the gas meter, turn off your gas meter off (horizontal position) then call us immediately. Our plumbing service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
  6. If the gas smell is coming from the gas meter, hot water system or from the inlet pipe leading to your meter from the street, phone the Jemena Emergency Response Service on 131 909 to report the leak.
  7. Do not attempt to relight any flames, use any gas appliance or hot water system until the gas leak has been fixed by a licensed plumber/gasfitter.

  1. If possible, it will assist our plumbing team if you can identify whether the burst pipe is hot or cold.
  2. Isolate water supply by finding your property’s isolation taps and turning them off.
  3. Or turn the main cold water supply tap off (this is usually located at the front of the property near the water meter), this will reduce any water loss until our plumbers arrive.
  4. Check to see if any water has come into contact with electric points or cables, and advise our plumbers upon arrival.
  5. If you are concerned whether leaky pipes have penetrated any cabling, light switches, light fittings or power points, turn off the mains power at the electrical board.
  6. If ceilings are bulging with the weight of water from your leaking pipe, make a small hole in the ceiling with a hand drill or cordless drill to allow excess water to drain (NEVER use a wired tool connected to mains electric).
